Parenting Support: Nurturing Stronger Families

Parenting can be one of the most joyful experiences in life, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. Whether you're navigating postpartum anxiety, the joys and struggles of raising young children, or the changes of adolescence, the journey can be complex and, at times, overwhelming.

For over a decade, I have offered counseling services to children, adolescents, and parents impacted by a wide variety of mental health challenges in hospital, community, private, and school settings. I have had the privilege of helping children and teens cope with issues such as anxiety, school avoidance, bullying, and somatization. I’ve also supported parents who felt overwhelmed and burned out, wanting to be the best parents they could be, but unsure of how to handle the many challenges that come with raising children in today’s world.

I have supported parents dealing with intergenerational trauma and how it may impact their parenting today. I’ve also helped parents navigate the guilt they experience and, through self-compassion, CBT, and mindfulness, support them in repairing the ruptures they may experience with their children as they work towards building new parenting habits.

I’ve worked closely with parents seeking guidance on how to communicate with their children in developmentally appropriate ways, especially when dealing with tough issues like mental health struggles or life transitions. I understand how difficult it can be to know how to support your child when they are struggling, and I’ve spent years developing strategies to help parents navigate these complexities.

After years of education and experience in this field, I became a first-time parent at 40. The few months were truly humbling. Despite all the professional training and knowledge I had accumulated, nothing could fully prepare me for the first few months of parenting. My connection to the vulnerability, humility, guilt, and joy that my parent clients experience deepened through this personal journey. This unique blend of professional expertise and personal experience gives me the ability to offer insightful, non-judgmental support to parents at every stage of their journey.
